Use soft pulls the smart way

Prequalify first — it's a soft pull

  • This is education, not approval odds or product recommendations.
  • Most lenders offer prequalification (a soft pull) that doesn't affect your score. Always use it before a real application.
  • Prequalifying is not a guarantee of approval — it's an estimate. Only apply when you're ready.
  • Rate-shopping a loan? Group applications into a ~14-day window so they count as one inquiry (this applies to auto/mortgage/student loans, not credit cards).
  • Don't apply for several things at once, and not while we're mid-repair. We'll tell you when timing is right.
